I installed Oracle 10g in domain (bkb.com) of windows server 2003. But i can not create database using dbca. During database creation, i received an error as follows:

Instance create.
DIM-00019:create service error
O/S-Error:(Os 1388) A new member could not be added to a local group because the member has the wrong account type.

Would you please help me telling what i can do?

Thanks

Morad.

Oracle MUST not and can't be installed on domain controller.

I have alredy installed oracle database 10g but could not create database. I think windows server 2003 domain has some user and group policy setting, that conflict with default orale user creation in the time of database creation.

thanks.

This is what I meant. A domain controller cannot contain a database (or other Oracle service).

Mr Michel,

You wrote that oracle database can not be created in doamain.
YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A PARAMETER IN ORACLE DATABASE NAMED 'DB_DOMAIN'. That means oracle database can be created in domain. Also when we specify oracle service name in oracle, we write 'Machine-name.doamin-name' like dell.ora.com (when domain name is ora.com).

Now can you tell me what is the fact.

Thanks,

You can create it on a domain, of course.
You cannot create it on a server that is a domain controller.

Only YOU can know this.
Check with your Windows administrator.
Check if there is any policy regarding users.
And so on... and maybe post your question in Windows forum, this is a Windows error code not an Oracle one.

Michel
