Error? What error? I don't see any error.

My car won't go.
Tell me how to make my car go.

Let us review.

You report you have a problem.

You do not clearly post what you did.
You do not clearly post EXACTLY how Oracle responded.

While using sqlplus and then using CUT & PASTE post back here the WHOLE session.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply,

I am trying to create a listener using "netca", and it is taking port value as "null".

Even unable to create TNS using netca. Please suggest me.

Please read & follow Posting Guideline as stated above

So many problem & so little useful information.

OK, you have documented that you can't get Oracle to work for you

Please take a step back & describe how/why you find yourself in this unfortunate position & in the bigger scheme of things, what you desire to accomplish.

Hi,

First on my pc I was using only windows XP, then I formatted 2 out of 4 drives and I installed LINUX on the remaining space (using 100gb for LINUX). I installed oracle on linux, while creating database using DBCA, it was creating LISTENER as well. But I was facing this problem.

LISTENER is getting created but, iam getting a message that
"listener start failed"

please advice me...

abdul majid

Hi Micheal,

I am creating a first listener, as you can see in the screen shots... There is no other listener running.

Your screen shots don't prove this, just you are creating a new one.

By the way, you said you work on Linux and your screen shots are DOS ones.

Did you check the docs I pointed you?
Did you check listener.ora?
Did you check Windows services for Oracle listeners?

Michel
