ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure [message #338006]

Dear all,
Frequently i am getting an eror
ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure.
Can u tell me what are possible reasons and solutions for this?

ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure

Cause: An error occurred during a data send.

Action: Not normally visible to the user. For further details, turn on tracing and reexecute the operation. If error persists, contact Oracle Customer Support.

i changed SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS) to NONE in sqlnet.ora
now it is working.Can u tell me what is the function of this parameter?

This parameter is used to tell oracle, how it will authenticate oracle user while login.

Google it to get more information.

Or it might be possible "bug".
Next time provide OS and Oracle Version info.
