Dear

I want to create a replica of my database. and I want it to be updated with active database.

I want to install Oracle10g database on two different machines and two different dbs and want both to be updated at the same time. one will be used by the users and other one will remain as back up. but both must be updated at the same time.

is this solution possible? if yes....... How?

take care.

Regards.

Dear Sir

Data Gaurd concept is only available in 10g or higher version of oracle products.

is it possible in oracle9i........

and is there any other solution except Data Gaurd. because we will need licence of Data Gaurd also, in this case.

Is there any other concept of replica...... providing me the same as Data Gaurd.

Regards.

In the topic header you said you are in 10g. Posting wrong information leads to inacurrate answers.

In addition, forum rules say you must give your version with 4 decimals. Don't you think there is no difference between 9.0 and 9.2?

Finally, standby database exists since version 7.

By the way, we don't owe you any answer so wait someone post an answer and don't complain about it, above all after 31 minutes.

Regards
Michel

Dear Michle

Sorry if i annoyed you....... and sorry for bothering you again.

I have given information initially and rest of the queries emerged with the solution provided by Sir Taj.

I am not a DBA. but i need to provide some solution to my organisation that should be most easy to handle.

still if i have bothered you ......then I can just say Sorry.

regards.

Same version of Oracle in both server?
Same OS in both server?
...

Many questions to answer before ending to a solution.
Read 9i/10g documentation related to standby database: http://tahiti.oracle.com
