Hello,
A datafile got deleted by accident and the instance has been shutdown not knowing the datafile has been delete. So when startup the instance, Oracle refuse to start because it expected to see that datafile. Unfortunatly no back existed of the datafile (test environment).
Beside re-creating the database, how else the instance can be started?

Thanks.

recreate control files specifying only the database files available. You will have your instance up and running but without the lost dbf.

Mika,
Using the create controlfile statement, will it no re create the redo log files and the datafiles or it is just to tell it where the files are located.

Thanks
