hi,

Anybody has any idea regarding how much space require to create an index (unique/non-unique), any formula for calculating this? I derived one formula from a table, with column size (using vsize/lenghtb), rowid. But I don't think mine is right, because I got different values for different tables.
I will appriciate if anyone can give me some idea regarding this matter.
thank you
sam

At the appendix of the "Oracle server administrator guide", there is a chapter talked about the space estimations for schema objects. It will show you how to estimate space for indexes. Actually, you can put this formula into EXCEL spreadsheet and put in estimate number of records, then you can size your indexes, tables, or the whole database.
