how can i import the oracle 9i dump file into 10g database, while iporting i get following error imp-00002 fail to open dump file

backup took from oracle 9i database in windows environment. Want to import the dump file in to oracle 10g windows environment

By saying "backup", you actually meant to say "export", right? Which EXP utility did you use? 9i or 10g? (should be 9i - the "source" & "lower" version). Which IMP utility did you use to import data? 9i or 10g? (should be 10g - "target" database version).

Your syntax is most likely wrong. Or you don't have OS permissions to read the dump file.

oracle ~ $ oerr imp 00002
00002, 00000, "failed to open %s for read"
// *Cause:  Import failed to open the export file for reading. This message is
//          usually followed by a device message from the operating system.
// *Action: Take appropriate action to restore the device.
oracle ~ $
