Hi,

how many Network Interface Cards exist in application server system? - I am not aware of the same.

I just wanted to know if any performance issues if we setup Oracle database and application servers on different VLAN?

What is the advantages / diadvantages of configure Database & Application servers on same VLAN and different VLAN?
I am asking these queries as we are planning to configure new infrastructure...and network team planning to setup database server and application servers on different VLAN.

Thanks in advance.

the answer depends upon how many Network Interface Cards (NIC) exist in application server system since VLAN packet exchange consumes NIC's resources.

It is not advisable to have database and application servers on same VLAN because there is the security concern but is easy to implement. On the other hand moving to different VLAN may be more complex(extra cost, dedicated network connection between the two, more maintenance, etc.), especially for a small application.

Thanks
