Yes, I have a Dell Dimension 4300 Pentium 4 and I have the same problem as all of you. I get the hour glass for a few seconds then it goes away and nothing happens. I was able to install a trial version of Oracle 8i 8.1.5 but not 8.1.7.

If anyone figures this out please email me with the fix. I would like to get the Oracle 8i 8.1.7 on P4 with NT 2000 Professional.

i have ahd trouble with 5 different p4 optiplexs, the installer for 8i wont launch, however the one for 7 will?
