Same problem,
We searched all the tnsnames.ora on our harddisk, because we had several versions of the client running. We tried to put the instruction for our database GISA in one of the tnsnames.ora

gisa.world =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = GisaServ)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = orcl)
)
)

Suddenly it worked perfect.

Hopefully this hint helps.
