We originally were running Oracle on a Windos OS but have since moved to a linux. I am a bit unfamiliar with Linuz. I am attempting to install Oracle on a Linux OS. I have created an oracle user and groups ORADBA, ORAINVENTORY. When I attempt to begin installation, I get an error saying "Unable to setup Inventory. You may not have proper permissions".

I am installing oracle 9i on Red Hat Linux 7.3. I am getting error message as "can't attach shared memory" and also system pointer pointing to NULL..that too while creating oracle database.
Please can any body suggest me in this regard?

You need to create one user account and from that account run the runInstaller and run root.sh script by superuser access in another window. or else try to change permission or root.sh to 0700
