I installed the Oracle 9i database on my Win 200 machine. After creating and populating my database, I installed Forms & Reports 6i.

I launched Forms Builder 6i, created a new module and tried unsuccessfully to connect it to my 9i database. I received the following message:

ORA12154: TNS:could not resolve service name

Thanks in advance.

Change the TNSnames.ORA settings of the forms6i server to contain the same settings as ur database settings.
This should solve the problem.

TAMADE, at last i figured it out. I installed forms 6i and oracle 9i on windows xp professional. But i can't connect to oracle 9i in forms builder.
Now i know. Because oracle and forms are in different folders.
I copied tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora from oracle to forms folder. Now it is working!
