Hello,
I tried to connect my Database from Delhi but my Database Server in Kathmandu, Nepal.... and the error Ora-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name...............
but I can connect it inside Kathmandu Valley from anywhere once I am able to ping my Private IP of my Server. and Latency rate is about 200 and 300 MS.. But when my Server is Pinged from Delhi it returns the latency rate about 900 MS..................
How can I solve this???? Is it because of the slow connection speed from India and Nepal?
Hope to be answered this question..
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Roshan

can u tell describe us how u were able to solve this problem ?

by the way ....

• ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name: This means that the Net8 client (running on the application’s server) was unable to find what server and database the Net8 alias provided by the application maps to. You should check the tnsnames.ora file on the client to make sure it includes the Net8 alias you wish to use. Also, make sure the tnsnames.ora file is in the right location—typically

$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin.

You should be able to connect to the database immediately after fixing the problem with tnsnames.ora.
