Hello, yesterday i installed Oracle9i along with the 9.2.0.6 patch set on our Sun Solaris8 Unix system. I installed this in a separate environment as we've currently got an Oracle8i environment on the same box (5 Oracle8i databases). I've got one listener running (just called LISTENER using port 1521) for all the Oracle8i databases. Do i have to create a second listener for the Oracle9i database which i'm in the process of creating? Also if i have two listeners can i use the same port or do i need the Oracle8i listener to use port 1521 and say the Oracle9i listener to use port say 1522.
Thanks.

You can use the same listener for both ORACLE_HOMES ( 8i and 9i)
( just register the 9i database with 8i_listener)
or
USe seperate listeners ( listening in different port).
( use a seperate listener . create a different listener_name for easy of administration. let it listen in another port).
