hi,

When I create a Database with dba and i give only the NLS_TERRITORY=FRANCE in

the environment variables
window(of dbca), and when I run the query SELECT * FROM

NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS;
it still shows NLS_TERRITORY=AMERICA.

I also saved the environment variable log in dbca it says NLS_TERRITORY=FRANCE.

When i check the sPfile, it has the variable as NLS_TERRITORY=FRANCE.

I also checked the bdump folder and the log file says under the heading
System parameters with non-default values:
nls_territory =FRANCE

What could be the reason that the nls_territory is not getting changed and not

getting displayed in the query
SELECT * FROM NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS

I tried adding data, it takes the american date format.

Database Server timezone is India.

Database version is: Oracle9i Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production.
OS is Windows.

thanx.

cheers
sam

Try to open the database with pfile specified. Might be it is taking the parameter values from the spfile.

If this wont work, then change the values again and restart the database with the pfile.
