hi,

i've installed an older (orant817) client and want to access newer (9,10) DBs. Do I have to install also the newer clients to my system or may I use the old one? Are there any problems?
If I install more than one client on my system, how does the Application (using SQL*Net S.) knows, which is the right one? How may I switch?

thank you

HI

Your old client is going to work due to backward compatibility feature of Oracle Server.
But in order to utlize all features of your current Oracle server release, its advisable that you use the client with same relase as that of Oracle server.
